Box Rd Remodel
This home was a complete exterior and interior remodel. The exterior was brown brick, the interior was all original to the 1980’s with interior soffit’s above the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry. When you walked into the home it had an extra long unusable living room at an odd angle. It was a 3 bed 3 bath that we converted into a 4 bed 3 bath, or 3 bed 3 bath with an office. We used that unusable living room space to create a 4th room in the home. After the remodel, the home had a more open living area for family time and entertaining. It also boasted a more pleasing atmosphere whether you were inside or outside.
Before Kitchen Remodel
The kitchen and bathrooms had this soffit above the cabinetry. This was popular at this time, it was believed it saved money on heating expenses. It was very outdated and the customer had a lot of wasted space. The large window was a good focal point for us to work with in the design process.
The Exterior
We started with the roof. After tearing off the old shingles, architectural shingles were installed on the roof. The outdated brick was lime washed, and cedar shutters and window boxes were built giving this home a clean timeless look.
Gravel and flagstone pavers were brought in to create a patio surrounding the new landscaping. The posts on the front porch were lime washed and the bases were wrapped with cedar shakes.
We built out door furniture for the back of the home and brought in unique objects for landscaping that fit the customers likes and personality.
The Interior
We started by gutting the entire house down to the studs, as electrical and plumbing were completely reworked. Since this home is on a concrete slab, we stained and sealed the floor for a clean, finished, but rustic look. The slab was poured out of level when the home was built in the 80s, so we came in with our laser level and used concrete surface grinders to level the floor before finishing it.
We redesigned the living room area to add a 4th bedroom or an office. Originally, the living room space was long and at an odd angle, so it couldn’t be used efficiently. There was a closet already off the far end of the living room, so when it was enclosed at a bedroom/office it had closet & storage space.
Walking in from the living room to the kitchen was a little awkward the way it was designed, especially with the flow of the doors. We came in and made a more open archway and moved it where this home had a more open flow for family time and entertaining. It also allowed for a larger U-shaped kitchen.
After reworking some of the interior framing, we finished the walls with hand texture and Magnolia paint in the color ‘Shiplap’. The entire home was this color except the hallway bathroom. It was Magnolia paint color ‘Times Past’.
The kitchen was designed with a rustic farmhouse look. It took into consideration all of the families wants and needs. This family loves to do a lot of cooking from scratch, making lots of memories along the way. A large island and 36” range were 2 big factors int he design of this kitchen. Also, ample pantry space was needed.
Kitchen Features

custom cabinetry including custom built-ins
corner pantry with an appliance shelf
The kitchen cabinets included custom built ins. The island contained a knife drawer, divided utensil drawer, storage for baking sheets & cutting boards, and potato slide out bins. There was also a drawer for pots, pans, and lids. The kitchen cabinetry included an under cabinet microwave, a trash can pull out that holds 2 cans, spice drawers, and a large heavy duty lazy susan.
The 3 bathrooms in this house were completely remodeled. The floors of the showers were marble tiles, the walls were white subway tiles, and the walls had a shelf inset with a tile design. The hall bathroom had 2 shower heads, a ceiling waterfall and one coming from the wall. The customer wanted simple open vanities with rectangle sinks sitting on top. The 3rd kids bathroom had a farmhouse vanity with a traditional vanity top. The kids bathroom also was converted from a shower only to a tub and shower combo so their kids to take baths.
The TV wall in the living room was designed with enough outlets to run all of their families electronics. An outlet was also installed higher on the wall where the TV was to be hung so no wires or cords were hanging down on the wall.
The closets were redesigned with custom cabinetry and rods for each family members needs. Solid wood interior doors were installed throughout the house, and a barn door was installed for the laundry room.
